Reading a lot is essential. It is stupid not to venture outside the examination ‘set books’ or the textbooks you have chosen for intensive study. Read as many books in English as you can, not as a duty but for pleasure. Do not choose the most difficult books you find, with the idea of listening and learning as many new words as possible: choose what is likely to interest you and be sure in advance, that it is not too hard. You should not have to be constantly looking up new words in the dictionary, for that deadens interest and checks real learning. Look up a word here and there, but as a general policy try to push ahead, guessing what words mean from the context. It is extensive and not intensive reading that normally helps you to get interested in extra reading and thereby improve your English. You should enjoy the feeling which extensive reading gives. As you read you will become more and more familiar with words and sentence patterns you already know, understanding them better and better as you meet them in more and more contexts, some of which may slightly differ from others. Some people say that we cannot learn to speak a language better with the help of a book. They believe that spoken language and written language are quite different things. This cannot be true.

(B) Write a summary of the above extract with the help of the following points and suggest a suitable title for it:

Read a lot - outside the textbooks - pleasure - avoid difficult books - choose interesting ones - avoid dictionary - guess meanings - extensive reading differs from intensive reading.

Expected Answers.

Enjoy Reading English

Reading extensively in English is crucial for improvement. Instead of sticking only to textbooks, explore books for pleasure. Select engaging reads, avoiding overly challenging ones. It's better to guess meanings from context than constantly rely on a dictionary. Extensive reading, where you enjoy the process, is more beneficial than intensive reading. Through extensive reading, you'll become more familiar with words and sentence patterns, enhancing your understanding.

The National Education Policy (NEP) is a comprehensive framework designed to transform the educational landscape of a country. It serves as a guiding document that outlines the principles, goals, and strategies for enhancing the quality and accessibility of education. The objectives of the NEP typically encompass fostering holistic development, promoting critical thinking, and ensuring inclusivity.
One of the key features of a robust National Education Policy is its adaptability to the evolving needs of society. It addresses not only the current challenges in education but also anticipates the future requirements of a dynamic and rapidly changing world. The policy often emphasizes a learner-centric approach, recognizing the diverse needs and abilities of students. This involves a shift from traditional rote learning towards methodologies that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and practical application of knowledge.
In addition to curriculum reforms, the NEP often focuses on teacher training and professional development. Recognizing the pivotal role of educators in shaping the educational experience, the policy strives to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement innovative teaching methods. This can involve incorporating technology in education, creating interactive learning environments, and nurturing a supportive teacher-student relationship.
Furthermore, a well-crafted National Education Policy places a strong emphasis on equity and inclusivity. It seeks to bridge the gaps in educational opportunities among different socio-economic groups, genders, and regions. This inclusivity extends to addressing the needs of students with diverse learning abilities, ensuring that education is accessible to all.
In conclusion, the National Education Policy is a multifaceted instrument that aims to redefine and rejuvenate the education system. It is a blueprint for building a learning environment that not only imparts knowledge but also instills critical skills, values, and a passion for lifelong learning. As nations grapple with the challenges of the 21st century, a well-structured and dynamic NEP becomes indispensable in shaping the future of education.
