National Yoga Olympiad (NYO) 2026 – NCERT
The National Yoga Olympiad (NYO) 2026 is being organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Olympiad aims to promote yoga among school students and encourage a healthy lifestyle, physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline, and holistic development. The initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the importance of yoga as part of India's rich cultural heritage.
Students participating in the Olympiad are assessed on various yogic practices such as:
- Asanas (Yoga Postures)
- Pranayama (Breathing Techniques)
- Kriya (Cleansing Processes)
- Dhyana (Meditation)
- Bandha (for Secondary Level Students)
Objectives of National Yoga Olympiad
The Olympiad aims to:
- Develop an understanding of yogic practices and their application in daily life.
- Promote healthy habits and lifestyles among students.
- Foster physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being.
- Develop humane values and self-discipline.
- Encourage harmony with nature and society.
- Promote yoga as a lifelong practice and potential career pathway.
Registration Details
Students from Classes III to XII can register through their schools using the official registration portal. Schools need a valid UDISE code for registration. The registration portal is currently active, and the deadline for registration is 10 June 2026 (11:59 PM).
Important Dates
- Registration Deadline: 10 June 2026
- National Yoga Olympiad: 15–18 June 2026
- Inauguration Ceremony: 15 June 2026.
