Poetic Appreciation of "All the world is a stage".
The Poem" All The World's A Stage" is a poem taken from the well known Drama of William Shakespeare's 'As You Like It.' It has been taken from the 7th Of II nd Act. The a monologue by the fool from the drama named Jaques.
It's a Blank Verse as it doesn't have the rhyming words but it has rhythm. The poem has figurative language and many Figures of speech such as metaphor, simile, Repetition, Transfer epithet, Onomatopoeia, Inversion. The prominent figure of speech is metaphor, there metaphor in the title itself as there is indirect comparison between "stage" and "world".
The central ideal of the poem is that the Poet compares the world with the drama/stage, the speaker of the poem is comparing the world with the Stage of the drama, where we play seven different roles. Like Infant, Schoolboy, lover, soldiers, Adult, middle age, and old age. It's a monologue by a fool Jacques from "As You Like it"
The language used by the poet is symbolic and figurative but easy to understand.
I like this poem because it tells us about the different stages in the life and the human behavior at that different stages.
